Remember You Always

Words by: Mei
The melody to accompany the words is an excerpt taken from "Endless Love" [不了情] Bu Liao Qing, a classic Mandarin Chinese song.

Remember you always. . .
From the first time we met, and then we parted.
Though we’re living apart,
My (our) thoughts of you are with the clouds.

There is no sad feeling
Because it’s fate is destined that way.
I (we) truly do believe
One day we’ll see each other again.

Remember you always. . .
The words you taught, lessons we learned.
And now that you are gone
Our thoughts of you are with the clouds.

There is no sad feeling
Because we’ll walk with you today.
We truly do believe
That you would walk along with us.

[Remember us always...]

Writer’s Notes:
Back Stories
Before "Bright Light", there was "Remember You Always".

At the time, I was playing with the words of what to become "Remember You Always". However, I encountered difficulty in bringing those set of verses to completion, sort of writer’s block. Only then, I started to work on the now called, "Bright Light".

After bringing "Bright Light" to completion, I went back to finish up on "Remember You Always".

Musical Choice
The melody to accompany this particular piece of lyrics is an excerpt taken from a well-known Mandarin Chinese song named, “Endless Love” [不了情] Bu Liao Qing. I am personally familiar with the song’s version sung by Teresa Teng (Đặng Lệ Quân); specifically, it’s the first track from a special album [忘不了] inoubliable (Unforgettable), which was released in 2001.

As I was humming along to the song’s melody of the first four opening lines of the lyrics [忘不了 忘不了 忘不了你的错 忘不了你的好], it was when I started wording out the phrase: “Remember you always…” The next verse, the one after next and the following ones are just to follow suite though out the writing process. By no means, they are the direct translation from the original lyrics.

Inspiration for the Words
Inspiration for the words came from my reminiscence for teachers, family elders and loved ones. Each and every one of them is special to me in every ways.

Above all, there is God. It is Him who led me to understand about this Lenten season more than ever before. Opportunities have presented themselves in allowing me to see His greatest love through the people I love and those who love me. That enabled me to write true words from my heart. And, I’m thankful for His blessing.

Thoughts and Reflections
Come to think about it, one would say: "Bright Light" gives birth to "Remember You Always"; but, the other would say: "Remember You Always" gives way to "Bright Light".

May be, an answer to that would be: “It is neither!”

Then, again, there is a question: "Does it matter which one came first?"

Not really, actually; since they were both there until opportunities have presented themselves.

* * *

In life, there is always the notion of “to have that I (we) must do this…” and sometimes it gets overdone to a point of forgetting who we are and what real happiness is.

What we are trying to get to back to or chasing after? Why that it is us finding something so far and yet they are so near to us - only if we just stop and pause for a moment.
